📊 Today's read

Nifty sits at 23,921 — about -8.4% below its 6-month POC of 25,937, deep in the Q1_DEEP oversold zone, with the mean-reversion target stable (flat 20-day POC trend). Breadth is broad-oversold: 20 of 49 names below their value zone. The deepest clean pockets are IT (HCLTECH, TCS) and autos (M&M); some deep names look unreliable because their POC is itself sliding down. The one calendar event overhanging the window is the RBI MPC decision on June 5 (repo 5.25%, a pause widely expected) — most likely to move financials and the index.

Today's read on the deepest setups

Position-blind notes on the most-stretched names — what the structure shows, recent news, and the key risk. Setup quality only; not a recommendation and not portfolio advice.

HCLTECHSTRONG
Structure: Deepest dislocation in the universe at -43% from 6M POC; flat POC trend means the target isn't drifting away. Hist hit rate ~67% at this depth.
News: Expanded Pegasystems AI partnership (May 25); FY26 revenue $14.7B. No negatives.
Key risk: Sector-wide IT derate if FY27 guidance fears resurface.
TCSMODERATE
Structure: Very deep at -41% from POC, but historical reliability at this depth for TCS specifically is weak (~54% hit / +2% fwd60d) — depth alone doesn't guarantee the snapback.
News: Went ex-dividend (₹31) on May 25; AGM June 9. Mostly priced.
Key risk: Soft FY27 IT-sector commentary could extend the derate.
Structure: Deep at -24% but the historical hit rate is a coin-flip (~50%) and the POC is slowly migrating down — the snapback target is softening.
Key risk: Weak mean-reversion reliability; needs the POC to stabilise.
HDFCBANKBROKEN
Structure: Looks deep at -22% from POC, but the 6M POC is migrating down hard (~-7%/20d) — the mean-reversion target is collapsing toward price, so the depth is illusory and the signal is unreliable.
News: Ex-dividend ₹13 on June 19.
Key risk: Falling POC; not a clean reversion setup until it stabilises.
M&MSTRONG
Structure: -16% from POC with the best forward stats of the deep names (~+9% fwd60d), and a strong fundamental tailwind behind the dip.
News: Blockbuster FY26 results (May 5): PAT +35% YoY, revenue +25%, ₹33 dividend (+30%).
Key risk: ₹33 ex-dividend date unconfirmed — verify on NSE.
ICICIBANKMODERATE
Structure: Shallow Q1_DEEP (-7%, barely past threshold) but a solid ~70% historical hit rate; flat POC.
Key risk: Shallow depth — less margin than the deeper names.
SBINMODERATE
Structure: Q1 at -10% with the single highest historical hit rate in the basket (~83%) and a POC that's rising fast — a constructive mean-reversion backdrop.
News: Dividend ₹17.35 already went ex (mid-May); Q4 results out.
Key risk: RBI June 5 is a swing factor for PSU banks.

How to read this

A daily volume-and-time Market Profile scan of the Nifty 50. We measure how far each stock trades from its 6-month Point of Control (POC) — the price where the most activity has occurred — and flag mean-reversion setups.

POC — Point of Control

The single price with the highest traded volume/time over the last 6 months. It acts as a fair-value magnet: price tends to revert toward it.

Value Area (VAL–VAH)

The band containing ~70% of activity, from Value-Area-Low to Value-Area-High. Trading below VAL means a stock is stretched below where the market agreed on value.

Q1 / Q1·DEEP signals

Quantile of a stock's distance-from-POC vs its own history. Q1 = unusually oversold; Q1·DEEP = in the deepest tail. These are the mean-reversion watch tiers.

Q1·DEEP edge

75–80%60-day hit rate
+11%mean 60-day return

From a 49-stock × 5-year backtest.

Q1 edge

64–67%60-day hit rate
+5%mean 60-day return

Shallower tier — lower, but still positive, expectancy.
